Matthew Testa is an award-winning director and showrunner who specializes in documentary and non-fiction storytelling. His work has taken him around the country and the world, from the mountains of Appalachia and Alaska to the Navajo Nation, the streets of Kolkata and the glaciers of Iceland. He has gone undercover with police, filmed on the frontlines of wildfires, investigated abuse, documented surgeries, interviewed celebrities and politicians, chased internet pirates around the world and filmed deaf children experiencing sound for the first time.
Whatever he is filming, Matthew strives to reveal the human experience with authenticity, empathy and trust. His work spans genres including true crime, social justice, the arts, comedy and natural history. He is passionate about making films and series that entertain, enlighten and motivate audiences to appreciate and improve our world.
Matthew’s projects have screened at film festivals around the globe and appeared on Netflix, Amazon, National Geographic, PBS, Discovery, Peacock, FX, Oxygen, Animal Planet, A&E, Planet Green, Youtube Premium, Bravo and elsewhere.
He holds a MFA in Directing from the American Film Institute (AFI) and lives in Los Angeles.
